One of the breakout horror stars of the year will be joining Liam Neeson in a new political thriller.
According to Variety, Maika Monroe is in talks to join Felt, the new Watergate drama centering around FBI informant Mark Felt ("Deep Throat"). Her role in the film has not yet been made clear.
The 22-year-old actress gained recognition earlier this year when she played Jay in one of the best horror films of 2015, It Follows. She has since been cast as the female lead in Independence Day: Resurgence, and she'll have a prominent role in the science fiction adventure The 5th Wave.
Felt is being described as a "taut spy thriller" starring Liam Neeson as the man who leaked classified information leading to President Richard Nixon's downfall. It will also star Diane Lane as Mark Felt's wife and Jason Bateman as FBI Agent Charlie Bates. The filmmakers are still fleshing out the rest of the cast.
Peter Landesman (Parkland, Concussion) will write, produce and direct the film. Principal photography is set to begin in March 2016.
