Anthony Cumia, the controversial radio host for Opie and Anthony has been arrested for an altercation in which he had allegedly strangled a young woman.
Pix11 reported the altercation occurred Saturday morning at his home when the 54-year-old reportedly strangled the 26-year-old. He was arrested the next day and has been charged with strangulation, assault, criminal mischief, and false imprisonment.
No information has been released on the extent of her injuries or what their relationship to each other is.
In 1998, Cumia and his fellow co-host had been fired after a joke that was made during their radio show in Boston involving the mayor’s death in a car accident on April Fool’s.
Their show was cancelled after a contest produced information from a couple calling in to reveal they were having sex in a church.
In 2014, SiriusXM announced Cumia had been fired after he made racist comments on his Twitter page. He had made the tweets after allegedly being assaulted by a black woman, who he then went on a tirade against.
Since last year, he has had an online paid subscription show as host of The Anthony Cumia Show.
