George Clooney is putting together his next directing effort and it could have one incredible cast. Not only is it written by the Coen Brothers, but Josh Brolin, Matt Damon and Julianne Moore are all in talks to star.
News that the project was coming together was first reported by Deadline. The film will be produced by Joel Silver of Silver Pictures, and Clooney and Grant Heslov of Smokehouse. Production should start in October 2016.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Sony has already won worldwide distribution. Clooney has also picked Robert Elswit as cinematographer.
Many of those involved have worked with clooney several times in the past. Of course, Damon starred in Clooney’s Monuments Men and the two starred in the Oceans movies and Syriana together. Brolin stars in Hail, Caesar!, which was written and directed by the Coen Brothers and also stars Clooney. Amazingly, this will be Clooney’s first project with Moore in over a decade, since he was an executive producer on Todd Haynes’ Far From Heaven.
Damon can currently be seen in The Martian, while Brolin stars in Sicario. Moore won an Oscar for Still Alice and is in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2. Clooney was last seen in Tomorrowland.
