Billy Joel has officially started a trend. Comedian Jerry Seinfeld is following Joel by announcing his own New York residency.

The Beacon Theater announced that the legendary comedian will start Jerry Seinfeld: The Homestand on Jan. 7. Other announced dates include Feb. 18, March 2, April 14, May 5 and June 8. Tickets for the announced dates go on sale on Dec. 7. Remaining tickets will be available at the Beacon Theatre box office starting on Dec. 8.

"My favorite theater in New York to perform in has always been The Beacon. Comedians live for certain houses that just feel ‘alive’ for some reason,” Seinfeld said in a statement. “The Beacon is that place for me and I am so excited to make it my new home.”

Seinfeld is the second New York icon to pick the city over Las Vegas for a residency. In December 2013, Madison Square Garden and Joel announced that the “Piano Man” will be the venue’s first “music franchise” and will perform there whenever he can. Joel’s next show at Madison Square Garden is on Dec. 17 and tickets are already sold out.

Seinfeld is best known for starring in and co-creating Seinfeld. He currently has his own online show, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, which is available on Crackle.
