Filmmaker Judd Apatow was easily the most outspoken critic of Bill Cosby in Hollywood. He was happy about today’s news that Cosby will finally face criminal charges and hopes that more women get to tell their stories in court.

Earlier today, the Montgomery County, Pennsylvania district attorney announced that he is charging the former Cosby Show star for aggravated indecent assault in the case of Andrea Constand. In 2004, Constand claimed that she was sexually assaulted by Cosby, but the comedian was not charged and the two sides settled a civil lawsuit.

Since comedian Hannibal Buress brought up these allegations in a stand-up performance in October 2014, over 40 other women have claimed that they were drugged and sexually assaulted by Cosby. While Cosby continued to deny these allegations, Apatow frequently went to Twitter to criticize Cosby. The Trainwreck director did not stop today.

“Bill Cosby has spent his life attempting to silence the women he has assaulted with threats, lawsuits and money,” Apatow wrote, including a link to a Hollywood Reporter story on the charges.

“Hopefully now many of these women will get to tell their stories in a court of law and the people who supported him will get deposed,” Apatow added.

Cosby will be arraigned in Pennsylvania later today.
