Stephen “Greg” Fisk, the newly elected mayor of Juneau, Alaska, died of natural causes, police said Wednesday.

Fisk was found dead in his home on Monday by his adult son. There were injuries to Fisk’s face, leading some to speculate that there was foul play. However, police ruled that out after the autopsy.

Police Chief Bryce Johnson said that the 70-year-old’s injuries were “consistent with an injury due to falling or stumbling objects,” reports KTUU. Johnson also said that Fisk had a history of heart problems, which may have played a role in his death.

"The first assumption was someone had done something to him," Johnson told the media. "We preceded, not knowing the cause of death, as if it could be something nefarious. We have an obligation … to rule out those possibilities.”

Fisk was a fisheries consultant and was only elected the mayor of Alaska’s capital city in October, notes The Associated Press.

A final autopsy report will be issued after toxicology tests are completed in a few weeks.
