Kylie Jenner has long stood in her sisters’ shadow – not as famous or as popular as Kim Kardashian, not model material like Kendall, and not as paparazzi-worthy as Khloe. But the youngest Jenner has been in the news constantly lately, and she's finally living up to her family’s brand of infamy this week.

What happened? Interview magazine published an interview with the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star that, mostly, focused on her style, makeup, and finding herself. What was more controversial were the photos, shot by Steven Klein, that invoked a bondage and submission vibe, had Kylie nearly unrecognizable in Jackie O.-style hair and featured her sitting in a gold-colored wheelchair.

The blowup was particularly amongst disability advocates pointing out that wheelchairs aren’t fashion statements.

After all the furor, a rep from Interview sent a statement to E! News about their decision to include the photos:

"At Interview, we are proud of our tradition of working with great artists and empowering them to realize their distinct and often bold visions. The Kylie Jenner cover by Steven Klein, which references the British artist Allen Jones, is a part of this tradition, placing Kylie in a variety of positions of power and control and exploring her image as an object of vast media scrutiny."

But, leading up to this point, Kylie’s no stranger to controversy, and her Instagram account is a strong testament to that. She’s turned into a bonafide social media star with moments like these:
