The Queen of Christmas, Mariah Carey, has been dethroned in her own Kingdom. Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is no longer the most-played Christmas song; that title now belongs to a cover of Paul McCartney’s "Wonderful Christmastime."
Carey’s song took on a life of its own for many years, but it seems The Shins’ rendition of MCartney’s song has recently become more popular.
According to PlayNetwork’s list of 20 songs heard by holiday shoppers, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” fell to No. 2 this year.
No. 3 is Christina Aguilera’s "Christmas Time,” then Waitresses’ "Christmas Wrapping"
and rounding out the top five is Jack Johnson’s "Someday At Christmas.”
