Memorabilia from The Beatles is auctioned off all the time, but collectors don’t always get the chance to buy pieces owned by a Beatle. Over the weekend, drummer Ringo Starr auctioned off pieces of his collection.

Starr and his wife, Barbara Bach, teamed up with Julien’s Auctions to sell off pieces of his collection that spans all eras of his career. All of the proceeds from the sale went to The Lotus Foundation, a charity group that focuses on social welfare. The foundation was founded by Starr and Bach.

The most exciting piece of the collection was the 1963 Ludwig Oyster Black Pearl three-piece drum kit. Starr used it during over 200 Beatles performances and during the recording of several early Beatles hits. The drum kit went for $2.2 million and the buyer was Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay, reports Rolling Stone.

Starr also sold off his copy of The Beatles, also known as The White Album. His copy was No. 0000001 and sold for $790,000.
