The trailer for Shane Black’s The Nice Guys is finally here, showing that a pairing of Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling is something we never knew we needed.
The film stars Russell Crowe as a badass hitman who meets the worst private detective ever, played by Gosling, while on a job. Crowe is alter approached to find a missing girl and enlists Gosling to help. But the missing persons case soon becomes only a small part of a big conspiracy. All the drama is set in 1970s Los Angeles.
The rest of the cast features Matt Bomer, Kim Basinger, Yaya DaCosta, Keith David and Ty Simpkins. It was written by Black and Anthony Bagarozzi.
“It is an R-rated film and it's a caper,” Black, who last directed Iron Man 3, told People Magazine earlier this week. “It's a little fast, a little funny and a little rough in places, kind of coarse. These guys are working-class dudes, they're not really sophisticated private detectives, so it's a chance to do the kind of thriller I don't see too much of anymore.”
The Nice Guys opens on May 20.
