The worldwide box office is feeling the power of the Force. Star Wars: The Force Awakens has now become the fastest movie in history to reach $1 billion.

According to Associated Press, it only took 12 days for The Force Awakens to reach this accomplishment. It broke yet another record previously set by Jurassic World, which crossed the $1 billion mark in 13 days. It should be noted that Jurassic World opened at China when it claimed this record and Star Wars doesn't open in China until Jan. 9.

The box office records just keep coming for J.J. Abrams' Star Wars. The Force Awakens (reviewed here) earned an additional $49.3 million on Christmas Day, after making $27 million Christmas Eve, and took in $153.5 million during its second weekend domestically.

Avatar holds the record for being the highest grossing film of all time, earning $2.7 billion. Box office analysts are saying that The Force Awakens could be on pace to match or break the record set by James Cameron's film.

The Force Awakens stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher.
