Star Wars: The Force Awakens continued its incredible, record-breaking run at the box office, earning an additional $27.6 million on Christmas Eve. Internationally, it earned another $20 million on Thursday.
With the Christmas Eve earnings, its current domestic total is now up to $391 million, notes Entertainment Weekly.
Traditionally on Christmas Eve, box office results tend to be smaller but this is still an impressive showing for Star Wars. The film has only been out for one week and it's already the third-highest grossing film of 2015, coming in behind Avengers: Age of Ultron and Jurassic World.
As previously reported, The Force Awakens has already earned a number of records including, largest opening weekend box office domestically and breaking the Monday record. Star Wars broke the opening weekend record that was previously set by Jurassic World. The Force Awakens has already earned $813.5 million globally to date since its Dec. 18 release.
Box office analysts are projecting that the film might have a chance of competing with Avatar for the title of being the highest grossing movie of all time.
