Disney is currently in search of a young Han Solo for the upcoming Star Wars spinoff, and Lawrence Kasdan recently opened up about finding the perfect Harrison Ford replacement.
In an interview with Vulture, Kasdan discussed his criteria for a young Han, saying he doesn't just want someone doing a Harrison Ford impression.
"You want someone who isn’t going to be exactly like Harrison, you want someone who suggests him," he said. "It’s like when you adapt a book, and I’ve adapted a couple: You don’t want to adapt it word for word, you want the essence to come through."
Apparently just about every young actor in Hollywood is trying to get the part of Han Solo, and Disney has auditioned over 2,500 people including Dave Franco, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Miles Teller and Ansel Elgort.
This untitled Star Wars spin-off will follow Harrison Ford's character as a young man, showing how he became the smuggler we got to know in A New Hope in 1977. The film will be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and written by Kasdan and his son, Jon Kasdan. It's scheduled to be released on May 25, 2018.
