First off, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. As we eagerly anticipate the coming of the new year, these three movies are just a glimpse into the exciting foray of films scheduled for release in 2016. This week features a drama, a 20th anniversary sequel to a '90s mega hit movie and a dramatic thriller that is sure to keep audiences on their toes.

A Perfect Day tells the story of a group of aid workers, who try to put an end to an unstable situation in an armed conflict region. Independence Day: Resurgence is the much anticipated sequel to the 1996 original, but this time, the aliens are back, now more advanced and even more determined to annihilate humanity. Finally, Misconduct tells the tale of a young lawyer, who obtains a case against a ruthless executive at a powerful pharmaceutical company, which leads him into danger.

A Perfect Day is a drama starring Benicio Del Toro, Tim Robbins and Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace). Based on the novel Dejarse Llover by Paula Farias, the film’s plot is set in 1995. As a group of aid workers attempt to end a catastrophic circumstances in the Balkans. Its trailer depicts how the group tries to help the inhabitants of the area to get essentials like water, but are met with armed opposition. It opens in theaters on Friday, Jan. 15.

Independence Day: Resurgence is the long-awaited sequel to the 1996 original monster hit movie. This time, 20 years have passed since the aliens attempted to exterminate humankind. Now, their back with more sophisticated technology along with being smarter and stronger. The returning cast includes Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Vivica A. Fox and Judd Hirsch with new cast members, including Liam Hemsworth, Sela Ward, Joey King (Fargo) and Jesse Usher (Survivor’s Remorse). The trailer shows how the people of Earth have strengthened its defenses and its technology against any possible future alien invasions, but the aliens return to finish the job they started two decades earlier. Can we defeat them again? It opens in theaters on Friday, June 24.

Misconduct is a dramatic thriller starring Al Pacino, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Josh Duhamel, Julia Stiles, Malin Akerman and Alice Eve (Star Trek Into Darkness). The movie tells the tale of a determined young lawyer named Ben (Duhamel), who takes on a case against a cold-blooded executive named Denning (Hopkins) at a large and influential pharmaceutical company, but soon finds himself in a world of treachery and corruption. The motion picture’s trailer illustrates how Ben becomes embroiled in a world of deadly secrets, lies, fraud and duplicity that could end up getting him killed. It opens on Friday, Feb. 5.
