Universal has finally set a release date for their upcoming Wolf Man reboot.
According to JoBlo, Universal's The Wolf Man will be released on March 30, 2018. This will be a part of the studio's new slate of shared universe monster movies, clearly inspired by the success of Marvel and The Avengers.
Reboots of all of these classic monsters will kick off with The Mummy in 2017, as we previously reported. After that, the plan is to release one Universal monster movie every year. No projects beyond 2018 have been announced, but we will likely be seeing films based on Frankenstein, Dracula, the Creature from the Black Lagoon and The Invisible Man as well.
This franchise is being overseen by Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan, and Morgan said the films will be a bit more grounded than you might expect.
“This is not a heightened world,” Morgan told Variety. “We’re exploring issues of family identity and questions of, ‘Where do I belong in the world?’"
Once the series gets going, the monsters will interact with one another across movies, much like they did in the 1940s with films like Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man.
