In 2015, people continued to live-Tweet television shows and events by the thousands. Even more followed along, even if they were doing the tweeting.

Nielsen released a list of the top Tweeted about TV events and shows from the past year. It was no surprise that the most-tweeted about series was AMC’s The Walking Dead. Around 424,000 tweets were sent during episodes on average while 3.9 million viewers saw tweets about the show.

ABC’s The Bachelor came in a distant second place, with 156,000 tweets about the show on average, but with a Twitter audience of 3.6 million. HBO’s Game of Thrones came in third with 152,000 tweets on average with a Twitter audience of 3.2 million. Empire actually had more tweets on average (559,000), but a smaller audience (2.5 million).

The most-tweeted about special was The 57th annual Grammy Awards on CBS in February. Amazingly, there were 13.4 million tweets about the show during the broadcast. The Oscars, which came in second, had less than half of that with 5.9 million.

The most-tweeted about live event was Super Bowl XLIX, which featured one of the most stunning endings in Super Bowl history. The New England Patriots beat the Seattle Seahawks with an interception at the 1-yard line on Feb. 1. There were 25.0 million tweets during the game.
