Adele’s domination of the music awards season started today when the BRIT Awards nominations were announced. The “Hello” singer earned four nominations after the release of her third album, 25.
Her nominations came for British Female Solo Artist, British Single for “Hello” and MasterCard British Album of the Year for 25. Her “Hello” video was also nominated for the fan-voted British Artist Video.
Surprisingly, Amy Winehouse was nominated for British Female Solo Artist, over four years after her death. The Guardian notes that she was also nominated for the same award in 2013, when the album Lioness: Hidden Treasures came out. This year’s nomination is likely in recognition of Asif Kapadia’s Amy documentary.
Another surprise nomination came for Eagles of Death Metal, which is up for International Group. The California-based metal group was performing in Paris the night the city was attacked by ISIS militants in November.
The Brits are on Feb. 24 at the O2.
