Since Arnold Schwarzenegger doesn’t have to worry about Terminator for the foreseeable future, he can turn his focus to another one of his decades-old franchises. He is still working on a new Conan the Barbarian movie.
During an interview with the Schwarzenegger fan site The Arnold Fans, the former California governor said that the new movie is now being called Conan the Conqueror instead of The Legend of Conan. He said that the movie will be about Conan’s subjects trying to overthrow him.
Schwarzenegger said that the project has “been written and we are now looking for directors, so this is a serious drive [now for Conan].”
Producer/co-writer Chris Morgan told The Arnold Fans back in May 2015 that there are still plans to bring back Conan and the new film would be a direct follow up to Conan The Barbarian (1982) and Conan The Destroyer (1984). Lionstage tried to bring back the character in 2011, but the reboot flopped.
Conan was created by Robert E. Howard in 1932.
Schwarzenegger has not slowed down in the movie business, although he won’t have to worry about a follow-up to Terminator Genisys after it was pulled from Paramount’s schedule. His next movie is 478, but he has other projects in the works, including a Twins sequel.
