Imagine something you love (or love to hate) being parodied by the blandest person you know. OK, now open your eyes and you have CNN’s strange Wes Anderson-style State of the Union promo.

The network posted a three-minute video on Facebook to prepare audiences for the President Barack Obama’s final State of the Union address. in it, CNN’s Chris Moody explains why the address exists and what the format is.

Every aspect of the video is made to look like The Grand Budapest Hotel, Rushmore or The Royal Tenenbaums. There’s even an attempt to use some cute music during the Republican response section.

Thanks CNN, you’ve just killed the Wes Anderson parody video fad.

If The State Of The Union was a Wes Anderson filmPaging Steve Zissou, Margot Tenenbaum and... President Obama? http://cnn.it/1UHVPDy
