It has been a year and half since Tracy Morgan experienced a life changing car accident and now the comedian is going back out on the road to tour. Morgan has kicked off his new comedy tour, Picking Up The Pieces, in Iowa beginning Feb. 5.

According to the Associated Press, Morgan stated that this show was a way to help him cope with the accident. "The accident was a setback, but ... a setback is a setup," explained Morgan. "You use things that happen in your life that weren't funny - tragedy turned inside out. If you don't laugh about it, you'll cry about it. And I'm tired of crying.”

He continued by saying the accident showed him the difference between "what's important and what's not."  The accident taught him not only about life, but how the simple things that cause us daily stress is not as important "when it comes to life and death."  The lessons he learned shape what he will talk about while performing on stage.

The 30 Rock star added that is he currently in a good place in his life and that returning to the stand up world wasn't nerve wracking for him. Instead, it gave him a boost of confidence.

Along with spending time on the road, Morgan is also working on and starring in a new TV pilot for FX. This upcoming show will be a comedy that is being written by Jordan Peele (Key & Peele) and John Carcieri (Eastbound & Down).
