During the funeral service for country singer Craig Strickland, his wife shared her memories of the first date the two of them went on together.

ET Online noted that friends and family of Strickland said goodbye to him during a memorial service in Arkansas on Tuesday. One of the most emotional points of the night came when his widow, Helen, talked about their first date and admitted that she was “just getting started on [her] path with grief.”

“For Craig’s and my first date, he took me to Mt. Sequoia, that lookout point,” she shared, “for a girl, that made me a little nervous at first. He turned and looked at me and said, 'I’ve come to realize that relationships are the only thing that we take with us to Heaven.”

She turned to a photo of him and said, "I love you Craig Michael Strickland,” then she addressed those in attendance. “And I love each of you, as he did.”

She also thanked everyone via Instagram for coming, watching and participating in his memorial service.

As we previously reported, the Backroad Anthem and his friend went missing and were found dead after leaving for a hunting trip in a storm last month.
