David Bowie’s death on Sunday night came as such a shock to everyone that there is surprisingly a petition to god, insisting that Bowie cannot be allowed to die.
Bowie died just three days after his 69th birthday and the release of his third album, Blackstar. His family said that he had been battling cancer for 18 months.
The news was so sudden that Andrea Natella of Rome began a Change.org petition to “god or whom it may concern,” asking god to “say No to David Bowie dead.”
Since starting the petition and gaining attention around social media, the petition has earned 5,480 signatures.
Natella told the Independent that her favorite Bowie song is “Life on Mars?”
“It's a way to think about the way that David Bowie, like other famous people, died like a fictional character,” Natella said. “I suppose it's also a way we can highlight how ineffective most web petitioning can be!”
Unfortunately, even if the petition reaches the target of 7,500 signatures, it’s not likely to happen. And if Natella really wants Bowie to live forever, she could just listen to his records and watch his movies. He’ll always be there.
