The world renowned doctor who Will Smith portrayed in the movie Concussion has said that he believes OJ Simpson suffers from the brain disease chronic traumatic encephalopathy.

In an interview with ABC News on Jan. 28, Dr. Bennet Omalu said that he suspects Simpson may have the disease based on some of his post-retirement behavior and choices.

Analyzing that behavior, which overshadows a successful 11-year football career, Omalu concluded that it is likely Simpson suffers from CTE.

“I would bet my medical license on it,” the neuropathologist said.

Although Omalu has not personally examined the former Buffalo Bills running back, he pointed out that Simpson’s public tendencies are signs of the disease.

CTE is a degenerative brain disease found in many former players and associated with repeated head trauma. Most recently Tyler Sash, who played for the New York Giants and died last year, was found to have suffered from the disease.

These days, Simpson is more known as the sole suspect in the 1994 murder case of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman than he is for what he did on the football field.

As we previously reported, a miniseries about the murder trial is set to air Feb. 2 on FX.
