Even though John Wayne died in 1979, the iconic movie star and Republican supporter is still beloved, so Donald Trump made a huge deal about getting an endorsement from Wayne’s daughter.

Aissa Wayne announced her decision to support the billionaire’s campaign for the Republican presidential nomination at the John Wayne Birthplace Museum in Winterset, Iowa. she was certain that her famous father would have supported Trump if he were still alive.

“If John Wayne were around, he’d be standing here instead of me,” Aissa Wayne said, reports The Associated Press. “The reason I am here to support Mr. Trump is because America needs help, and we need a strong leader, and we need someone like Mr. Trump with leadership qualities, someone with courage, someone who is strong like John Wayne.”

Trump posed for a picture with Aissa Wayne, which he posted on Facebook. “A true honor to receive the endorsement of John Wayne's daughter, Aissa Wayne,” he wrote.

Trump is going to have another event in Iowa this afternoon. He teased a “very special guest,” leading some political analysts to think that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin might be there to endorse him.
