After the death of his father, David Bowie, Duncan Jones took a break from social media. Just a week later, he retweeted a letter that was written for his late father.

The tweet he shared on his account was by Marie Curie and it was an article written for BMJ Supportive and Palliatative Care. In the letter, palliative care doctor Mark Taubert began the letter simply, “Dear David.”

He spoke about how when Bowie’s death was announced, he had been seeing a patient who was coming to terms with her own life coming to an end. Bowie’s death helped them to “communicate very openly about death.”

Before he talked more about the conversation with his patient, Taubert had a few things to thank Bowie for, including a thank you for his ‘80s album ChangesOneBowie and his latest album, which was released as a goodbye to his fans.

He ended the letter telling Bowie his patient expressed her thoughts and concerns about how she would die, and how his death helped her to express her feelings to him as a doctor.
