The first trailer for Elvis & Nixon has been released and it’s fair to say that the movie is as quirky as the famous photo it’s about.

The film tells the story behind the infamous image of President Richard M. Nixon shaking hands with Elvis Presley. It also touches on Elvis’ desire to become a Federal Agent at large. Since today would have been Elvis’ birthday, it was a good day to release the first trailer.

Nixon is played by two-time Oscar winner Kevin Spacey, while Oscar nominee Michael Shannon stars as Elvis. Other members of the cast include Alex Pettyfer, Colin Hanks, Evan Peters, Dylan Penn, Sky Ferreira and Tracy Letts. It is being released by Bleeker Street and Amazon in April.

Liza Johnson, who directed the Kristen Wiig indie Hateship Loveship, directed the film from a script by Cary Elwes and Joey and Hanala Sagal.
