On Sunday, Hannibal Buress addressed what he thought about the aftermath following his joke regarding Bill Cosby.
The Associated Press noted that the comedian said that he thought it was “weird” that one joke has had the impact and affect that it has.
“I was doing a joke in my show and that shouldn’t influence public opinion. I don’t know if it should go that far,” Buress said. “It’s weird to me that a joke did that.”
He added that he did not believe that the joke he told about Cosby will be the defining moment of his career and said he is continuing to work on his stand-up as well as other projects.
In October of 2014, Buress called the former TV dad a “rapist” during a comedy show in Philadelphia. It was after that performance that things started to fall like dominos for Cosby and dozens of women accused him of sexual assault.
Recently, officials in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania announced they were moving forward to prosecute The Cosby Show star, but an email obtained by CNN in recent days has threatened to derail the entire case. The email was sent by former District Attorney Bruce Castor to successor Risa Vetri Ferman and allegedly details a verbal agreement not to bring a case against Cosby.
