Jennifer Jason Leigh can be seen on the big screen in Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight, but not everyone is happy with the strong language used throughout the film. The actress, who was nominated for her first Oscar for the film, spoke about the use of the N-word in the movie at the red carpet for the BAFTA Tea Party event.
"It's a part of the period and it's a part of the writing. It was just an incredibly different time," Leigh told E! News. "So you have to put it in context of what it is and the context of it being in a Tarantino movie, it changes."
Tarantino is known for having over the top violence and graphic language throughout his film career. The N-word was also used in his previous film, Django Unchained.
Leigh said she was sleeping when she heard that her work earned an Oscar nomination.
"I was sleeping so it was just this incredible news to wake up to. I woke up and ... there were just all these texts and missed calls," she explained to People.
