Jennifer Lawrence certainly enjoys playing real-life characters. The Oscar winner will star in a movie about Marita Lorenz, a woman who had an affair with Fidel Castro.

The project, currently titled Marita, was pitched to Sony by Eric Warren Singer, who co-wrote American Hustle with David O. Russell. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony wants to move fast and has Matt Tolmach, Lawrence, Scott Mednick and Andre Rouleau set to produce.

Lorenz met Castro in 1959 when she was just 19 years old. She got pregnant and had an abortion, then fled to the U.S. to join anti-communists. She was supposedly recruited by the CIA to assassinate Castro, but didn’t do it. She wrote two books about her incredible life, including 1993’s Marita : One Woman’s Extraordinary Tale of Love and Espionage from Castro To Kennedy. Lorenz now lives in Maryland.

Sony is one of the studios that Lawrence clearly enjoys working at. The studio released American Hustle and is also releasing her next film, the science fiction romance Passengers. Lawrence was last seen in Russell’s Joy, which has already earned her a Golden Globe and her fourth Oscar nomination.

Lawrence is also attached to Steven Spielberg’s It’s What I Do and a Darren Aronofsky film. She will also be seen in X-Men: Apocalypse.

As for Singer, he was nominated for his work on Hustle. His credits also include Red Sparrow and The International.
