Sicario writer Taylor Sheridan has secured two big stars for his first film as director. Avengers stars Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen will star in Wind River.
The film will have Olsen starring as a rookie FBI agent on the case of a rape victim found in a desolate wilderness. She has to work with an experienced Fish and Game Department staffer, played by Renner, whose teen daughter recently died. According to Deadline, which first reported on the project, it will be filmed in March in Park City.
Thunder Road producer Basil Iwanyk, who worked on Sicario, will producing with Peter Berg and Matthew George.
Sheridan made his screenwriting debut with the excellent Sicario, which was nominated for three Oscars on Thursday. It is up for Best Cinematography, Best Original Score and Best Sound Editing. It was released by Lionsgate and directed by Denis Villeneuve.
Renner is a member of Marvel’s Avengers team and Olsen joined in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Renner will next be seen in Captain America: Civil War and Villeneuve’s Story Of Your Life. As for Olsen, she’s in the Hank Williams biopic I Saw The Light with Tom Hiddleston (another Avengers star).
