When Jon Hamm received one of the first awards of his professional career, he was disappointed to discover his name was spelled incorrectly.

The Mad Men actor sat down with Vanity Fair over the weekend and revealed that his first Golden Globe award had his name spelled out as "John."

"They spelled my name wrong, which was also awesome," he joked. "I was like 'oh, man. Guys, there's no H.' I haven't gotten the little plaque to stick on the new one yet, so hopefully if you're out there watching, it's J-O-N."

Hamm won for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama at the 2008 Golden Globe Awards. That was the year that the ceremony did not actually take place because the writers' strike was still ongoing, so the list of winners was read during a news conference and the awards were sent in the mail. Apparently the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's copy editor was also on strike that year.

Hamm finally received his second Golden Globe award at this year's ceremony, as we previously reported. Let's hope they get it right this time.
