A 28-year-old man carrying two guns, a copy of the Koran and a box of ammunition was arrested at a Disneyland Paris hotel today.
The man was arrested that the New York Hotel, which is near the Lake Disney Village shopping area. According to Le Parisien, his bag set off a metal detector. The Local reports that the AFP confirmed that the man’s girlfriend was sought by police and has been arrested.
The local prosecutor praised the fast response of police and Disneyland security.
The man was not known to investigators and his motive is unknown.
France remains under a state of emergency after the attacks in Paris on Nov. 13 by the Islamic State. During those attacks, 130 people were killed.
Disneyland Paris is the most-visited theme park in Europe and attracts 14 million visitors a year. It is split into two parks, the main Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park. There are also seven hotels.
