Hail, Caesar!, the Coen Brothers’ new ode to old Hollywood, has a new trailer today and it focuses on one hilarious exchange between Ralph Fiennes and Alden Ehrenreich.
The scene doesn’t have much to do with the main plot - which centers on Josh Brolin trying to find a kidnapped movie star played by George Clooney - but it does highlight one of the difficulties of being an actor during the Hollywood Studio era.
Ehrenreich plays an actor who should be in Westerns, but Fiennes has to direct him in a sophisticated drama. Ehrenreich can’t quite get the line or accent and he keeps trying as more scenes from the film flash by.
Hail, Caesar! doesn’t look like one of Joel and Ethan Coen’s more serious films, so Universal has decided to release it on Feb. 5 instead of waiting for the 2016 awards season. However, the film will open the Berlin Film Festival in March.
Other members of the cast include Jonah hill, Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton, Channing Tatum, Dolph Lundgren, Emily Beecham and Frances McDormand.
