One Direction has announced a hiatus they plan on taking in March, but new reports suggest it’s just a cover and they actually plan on breaking up.

When March rolls around, the band will embark upon a two-year break. But will they ever come together again?

Sources have told Us Weekly the band made the decision “not to renew their recording contract” because they want to pursue solo projects instead.

“The 1D thing just ran its course,” the insider continued. “They’ll remain friends, but they are exhausted and want solo careers.”

The source also said they each have different passions and want to explore them individually. Harry Styles will try acting, while Liam Payne is “really interested in songwriting and production.” Louis Tomlinson is gearing up to become a father.

Niall Horan denied rumors of a split in November to ET, explaining, "We're not breaking up. We're literally taking time out to see our friends and see our family and reflect on what we've done over the last few years."
