Ricardo Medina, an actor who worked on two Power Rangers series and was arrested on suspicion of killing his roommate with a sword in February 2015, has been charged with murder.

Back in February 2015, the 36-year-old was arrested after the death of Joshua Sutter at a Palmdale, California apartment they shared. The two got into a fight on Jan. 31, 2015 and Medina locked himself in his room with his girlfriend. Sutter forced his way into Medina’s room, which was when Medina stabbed Sutter with a sword, the Sheriff’s Department said.

According to KTLA, although Medina was arrested after the killing, the D.A.’s office declined to pursue the case. He had claimed self defense at the time. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department did a further investigation, which is ongoing, the DA said today.

Medina was arrested early Thursday and will be arraigned on Tuesday. If he is convicted, he could be sentenced to 26 years to life in prison.

As Variety notes, Medina played Cole Evans during the 2002 series Power Rangers Wild Force. He also had a role in 2011’s Power Rangers Samurai.
