Star Wars: The Force Awakens has broken yet another box office record.
Walt Disney Studios confirmed that The Force Awakens has made $686.4 million as of Friday at the domestic office, making it the second highest grossing film in the history of North America. With these numbers, The Force Awakens has past Titanic, which made $658.7 million during its original theatrical run.
This also means that the film has broken the record which was previously held by Jurassic World ($652.3 million), to become the highest grossing movie of 2015 domestically.
Currently, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the 8th highest grossing film of all time and has crossed over $1 billion in total.
Avatar holds the record for being the highest grossing film of all time, earning $2.7 billion. Box office analysts are saying that The Force Awakens could be on pace to match or break the record set by James Cameron’s film.
The Force Awakens stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher.
