If you can turn Alexander Hamilton’s life into a successful musical, surely a musical about tech legends Bill Gates and Steve Jobs will do well. Nerds: A Musical Dot-Comedy, a musical about the rivalry between Microsoft and Apple, is heading to Broadway.
The show will begin previews on March 31 at the Longacre Threatre and will officially open on April 21, notes Broadway.com. Nerds will take over from Allegiance, which leaves the Longacre on Feb. 14.
Casey Hushion is directing and choreography was by Josh Bergasse. Music is by Hal Goldenberg, with book and lyrics by Jordan Allen-Dutton and Erik Weiner. The cast has not been announced yet.
According to the New York Times, an early version of Nerds was staged at the New York Musical Theater Festival in 2005, then in Philadelphia in 2007 and 2013. It was also staged by the North Carolina Theater in 2013.
