Authorities in Morocco have said that they arrested a Belgian national who they believe was connected to the horrific terrorists attacks in Paris last November.

Sky News noted that the Moroccan government said on Monday that police detained Gelel Attar, 34, in the port city of Mohammedia. Attar is a Belgian national of Moroccan descent and is said to have fought in Syria with an al Qaeda-linked rebel group before pledging allegiance to and joining the Islamic State.

Attar is thought to have been closely connected to those who orchestrated and carried out the Paris attacks as the government’s statement read, "He went to Syria with one of the suicide bombers of Saint Denis."

As we previously reported, a spat of terror attacks occurred on the evening of Nov. 13 in and around the city Paris. More than 120 people, many who were attending a rock concert, were killed.

In the days following, Parisian law enforcement officials said that some of the key figures behind the attacks were killed in raids.
