Some eyebrows were raised when Sylvester Stallone didn't mention the Creed team during his acceptance speech at the Golden Globes on Sunday, and now the best supporting actor winner is giving them the recognition they deserve.
During the Golden Globes, Samuel L. Jackson immediately called attention to Stallone's mistake, thanking Creed director Ryan Coogler and star Michael B. Jordan himself. Today, Stallone sent out a tweet referencing Jackson's criticism and making things right.
Of course, Stallone was probably just caught up in the moment and his mind was racing with people to thank, so it isn't actually that big of a deal. Still, it's nice to see him give some props to the people who helped win him the award. The Rocky star was rather emotional on Sunday night, discussing backstage how the death of his son helped inspire his Creed performance.
“To be frank, any time you can vent emotions that are real, I feel that it’s very, very helpful," Stallone said. "Most importantly, I just wanted to respect his memory, and I think we did."
Stallone also noted that he was was completely surprised not only to receive the award, but to receive a massive standing ovation from everyone in attendance. This was the actor's first time receiving an award since the release of Rocky in 1976.
