Even though the idea of a middle-aged Maverick really shouldn’t sound exciting, Tom Cruise and Jerry Bruckheimer are still talking about a Top Gun sequel.

Bruckheimer posted a picture of the two meeting in New Orleans on Twitter Tuesday. The prolific producer said they met to “discuss a little Top Gun 2,” proving that they still hope to make it, even after the tragic death of director Tony Scott.

Scott’s death in 2012 put work on Top Gun 2 to a halt, but it was revived in September 2014 when Justin Marks (Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book) was hired to write on the script. Producer David Ellison said last summer that the film would look at how hotshot pilots would try to survive in a world dominated by drones. Val Kilmer and Cruise have made it clear that they want to do it.

Cruise is currently filming Jack Reacher: Never Go Back and also has several projects in the works. He has a sixth Mission: Impossible movie and plans to star in Universal’s The Mummy remake.
