Even though he didn’t really need it, director Zack Snyder said that he did ask Christopher Nolan for a sign of approval before making Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Nolan, who was an executive producer on Man of Steel and directed The Dark Knight trilogy, has made it clear that he’s done with superhero movies. But Snyder told Empire Magazine that he really wanted the last person to bring Batman to the big screen to give him a green light.
“You tell me if you don’t want me to do it,” Snyder said he told the Interstellar filmmaker. Nolan was silent for a bit, but then told Snyder, “Well, we don’t own these characters. When you’re done making Batman movies, someone else will [make them].”
“I think he found it a little bit hard,” Snyder continued. “I would feel the same way.”
Snyder’s film will be released on March 25 and it introduces other characters to the big screen, including Wonder Woman and Aquaman. Henry Cavill is back as Superman and Ben Affleck is playing the new Batman.
A new trailer was released earlier this week.
