Two purse snatchers in Pennsylvania learned not to mess with an 81-year-old woman when they tried to steal her purse, but instead got rammed with her vehicle and arrested by police.

The Associated Press reported that earlier this week Alice Makla of Mount Pocono, began talking to two people through an open window of her car while she sat in the driveway of her home.

While engaged in conversation with the man and woman, one of the bandits grabbed her purse and sped off. What the duo didn’t expect was the Makla would pursue them and slam into their vehicle with her own.

The bandits were able to lose the elderly woman, but her choice to ram the car actually paid off because she caused enough visible damage for police to locate the vehicle and take the suspects into custody.

“She rammed their car, left some marks on it and police had at least something to go on and they were apprehended today,” Makla’s neighbor Steve Jabara told WNEP.

The and woman in the car were identified as William Hayhurst, 34, and Erin Vanmatre, 30, who investigators said admitted to stealing the purse and removing $140 cash from her wallet before tossing the handbag out the window.

They are due back in court on Feb. 25.
