One reason why Adele has been such a success around the world is that she doesn’t get involved with politics, while letting her music speak for itself. But when Donald Trump started using some of her songs at his rallies, some began to wonder if she was giving him permission to do so.
However, this is not the case. Adele’s spokesman told The Independent that she has not allowed the billionaire to use her music at all.
“Adele has not given permission for her music to be used for any political campaigning,” the spokesman said.
According to The Huffington Post, Trump used “Rolling In The Deep” when Sarah Palin walked out at an Oklahoma rally. During an Ohio rally, Trump used Adele’s Oscar-winning song “Skyfall.”
Countless artists have made it clear that they do not want their music used at political rallies. R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe made the most blunt statement when he blasted Trump for using “It’s The End Of The World (As We Know It).”
“Go f**k yourselves, the lot of you—you sad, attention-grabbing, power-hungry little men,” Stipe said in a statement in September 2015. “Do not use our music or my voice for your moronic charade of a campaign.”
In October, Steven Tyler also asked Trump to stop using Aerosmith’s “Dream On.”
