Adele’s highly-anticipated performance at the Grammys on Feb. 15 didn’t go as planned, and the singer revealed that she was just as disappointed in what happened as everyone who watched.

The “Hello” singer performed “All I Ask” at the Grammys, but there were some audio problems and glitches. Adele explained on Twitter that a piano microphone had fallen on one of the strings, making a weird guitar sound. It threw her off and, as she said, “shit happens.”

While on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Adele said that it really wasn’t easy to just brush off the performance. She admitted that she was embarrassed by it and also by fans asking her if she was OK.

“I cried pretty much all day yesterday,” Adele said during the interview on Feb. 17. “In fairness, I would have cried if it went really well. If it was a stand out performance, I would have cried as well. I always cry.”

Ellen gave Adele another chance to perform “All I Ask,” which is one of the standout ballads on her new album, 25. (Spoiler alert: the performance went off without a problem.)
