Amy Duggar is opening up about her family, who was at the center of a major scandal last year when her cousin Josh Duggar admitted to cheating on his wife and molesting his sisters as a teenager. She said she doesn’t feel like she fits in with the Duggar side of her family, and marches to the beat of her own drum.
Duggar said her parents’ marriage, which ended in December, made her feel different than her uncle Jim Bob Duggar and aunt Michelle Duggar’s family.
Since she was “born out of wedlock," she didn’t feel as religious as the rest of the family growing up. "I went to Christian school all of my life but I never really felt up to the Duggar standard," she told People.
Duggar continued, "I don't feel guilty for being me." Unlike her cousins, she didn’t abide by the same rules about dating. "I think kissing before marriage should happen," she said.
Despite her family’s scandals, she said "I love them" nonetheless.
