Amy Schumer is going to try her hand at drama by joining the PTSD film Thank You For Your Service, which has just started shooting. The movie will star Miles Teller and was written and directed by American Sniper’s Jason Hall.
Thank You For Your Service will center on a group of soldiers returning from Iraq and how they deal with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, as they struggle to readjust to civilian life. Other members of the cast include Haley Bennett, Joe Cole, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Jayson Warner Smith, Brad Beyer, Omar Dorsey and Brad Beyer.
The executive producers are Jon Kilik (Foxcatcher) and Ann Ruark (Love & Mercy). The film is based on David Finkel’s 2013 book. Universal will distribute in the U.S.
Schumer’s casting was first reported by Deadline. It’s not clear how big a role she will have, since this film is clearly an ensemble piece.
Schumer scored a hit with her first film, Trainwreck, in 2015. She’s working on Mother/Daughter next for 20th Century Fox and has written a movie with Jennifer Lawrence. She also has her Comedy Central show, Inside Amy Schumer.
