Some of the stars of Black Hollywood have made other arrangements for Oscar night.

According to ABC, Selma director Ava DuVernay, Creed director Ryan Coogler and singer Janelle Monáe are among a roster of stars that are planning on forgoing the Academy Awards ceremony in favor of attending a benefit in Flint, Michigan to raise money for residents affected by the water crisis.

Coogler's organization Blackout for Human Rights is sponsoring the benefit, titled #JusticeforFlint. The show will include live performances and testimonials and is meant to raise awareness about the crisis in Flint as well as raise money for its residents. Revolt.tv will be live streaming the benefit.

Both Monáe and DuVernay have been retweeting fans who tweeted at them about the event.


Comedian Hannibal Burress will host the free event. Grey's Anatomy star Jesse Williams is also expected to be in attendance.
