Just days after being hospitalized, Barry Manilow made a surprise performance at Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammys party. He performed his song “Mandy,” which started Davis’ party's tradition in 1976 to celebrate Manilow’s song.
As we previously reported, it was believed Manilow would miss the party and the Grammys after getting emergency oral surgery on Feb. 8 and suffering from complications. He was forced to reschedule his Feb. 11 show in Memphis and Feb. 12 show in Nashville.
Manilow is nominated for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for his My Dream Duets LP.
“I'm really glad to be here. What a week!" Manilow told the crowd. "This is the 40th anniversary of the release of 'Mandy' – and the beginning of this beautiful party."
A rep for the singer told People of his attendance, “He had to be there for Clive being the showman that he is," but it’s still uncertain if he will attend the Grammys on Monday, Feb. 15.
