Actor Bill Murray likely wasn’t in the best of moods when he allegedly took the phones out of the hands of patrons dining in the same restaurant as him on Feb. 11 and tossed them off of the eatery’s roof.

US Weekly reported that the actor is, however, taking responsibility for his actions.

“What we know is at about 10:30 PST last night [Carmel PD] officers were called to a disturbance at Vesuvio restaurant in Carmel,” Carmel police department commander Paul Tomasi said. “When they got there, there were three people who had claimed that their cell phones had been taken from their hands and thrown. Two phones went off the roof and one was not damaged, it landed on a cushion on a chair.”

While the comedian wasn’t at the restaurant when the police arrived, he was contacted later and admitted to being at the Vesuvio Rooftop Lounge and throwing the phones off the second-story roof.

The owner of the establishment told TMZ that Murray was upset because he thought the fellow diners were trying to taking his picture so he grabbed their phones and threw them. The victims countered that idea and said they were not taking his photo.

They have not pressed charges at this time.
