The home of the Whopper is about to become the home of hot dogs as well as Burger King has announced that grilled dogs are being added to its menu.

CNN Money noted that for the first time in its 62-year-old existence the king of burgers will sell hot dogs. The company announced that the "Grilled Dog" will be available for purchase starting Feb. 23.

"We've worked to bring guests a hot dog that tastes like backyard barbeque," said Alex Macedo who leads the company's unit in North America.

The 100 percent all-beef franks will be topped with relish, yellow mustard, ketchup and chopped onions and will cost $1.99. If you prefer your dog with chili and cheese that will cost $2.29.

Burger King had been testing the dogs in several markets throughout Maryland, Utah, Tennessee, Missouri and Michigan before deciding to expand and make it a permanent menu item.

The fast-food chain announced some other menu additions as it attempts to cater to more health-conscious folks and will be offering Kale salads and sides of fruit.
